Dr. David Jaskey

Jaskey out at medical center

Staff report
The Greene County Medical Center announced Tuesday it will take the next 90 days to “evaluate next steps for OB/GYN services” after the sudden resignation Monday of Dr. David Jaskey.

Jaskey told The Jefferson Herald Wednesday that he has started the search for a new job.

“We will very much miss our many friends here,” Jaskey said.

Jaskey served as the medical center’s OB/GYN at its Advanced Women’s Care clinic for six years.

Valerie Martin, a certified nurse midwife and an advanced registered nurse practitioner, will continue to provide care.

According to the medical center, she will be supported by Carroll physician Dr. Linda Iler, the Western Iowa Surgery team and the medical center’s OB team.

The medical center is putting the finishing touches on a $22.5 million expansion and renovation, which includes a new obstetrics area with two labor and delivery suites and a secure nursery, in addition to expanded space for Advanced Women’s Care.

The project is the largest in the medical center’s history.

A native of the Chicago area, Jaskey relocated to Jefferson in 2010 for his position with Advanced Women’s Care.

His wife, Lisa, is an accountant and a Jefferson city councilwoman.

“We love this community,” he said, “and we will be sad to leave.”

Medical center CEO Carl Behne offered the following statement: “A physician transition impacts many, but we respect Dr. Jaskey’s privacy and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
