Home State Bank honored with Friend of Extension Award

Special to the Jefferson Herald

Home State Bank has been selected to receive the Friend of Extension Award from the Southwest Region in Iowa. The purpose of this award is to recognize a non-extension (lay) person, business, or organization and is designed to recognize truly outstanding support and personal involvement in extension efforts. Home State Bank is a great example of this.

Iowa State Extension and Outreach- Greene County and Home State Bank has been working together through partnerships for more than 60 years. With the same goal in mind, the two community partners work side-by-side in supporting our community. Some examples of Home State Bank’s impact have been through supporting agricultural programming, Greene County Fair, 4-H Fundraisers, and marketing the Extension programming. Every year, Home State Bank has sponsored Extension Ag Coffees and Private Pesticide Applicator Trainings by providing notepads, pens, water and financially contributing to the program.

Staff from Home State Bank also attend those meetings to become more knowledgeable and prepared to help the community. During the Greene County Fair, they provide water to the public, livestreaming, 4-H shirts for all youth, help judge various events, and much more. Not only does Home State Bank donate an estimated $10,000 a year through Greene County Extension partnerships, but several of their employees are 4-H leaders, superintendents, have youth in the programs, or participate in Extension programming. Home State Bank makes a difference through Extension by providing support through sponsorships, marketing, advocating 4-H and agriculture to the Greene County community, and most importantly, helping Extension on their journey to reach all Iowans.
