Head to Wild Rose to watch bowl games, chance to win ISU, Iowa season tickets

Staff report

Sports fans who visit the new DraftKings Sportsbook at Wild Rose Casino & Resort in Jefferson this weekend for Iowa and Iowa State’s bowl games have something else they can set their sights on winning, in addition to their wager, of course: 2020 season football tickets to catch the Hawkeyes at Kinnick Stadium and Cyclones at Jack Trice Stadium.

The promotion is being run in conjunction with DraftKings, the nationally known operator of the sportsbook at Wild Rose.

Earlier this year, sports betting was legalized in the state of Iowa with significant bipartisan support.

Wild Rose began offering sports wagering to its patrons in mid-October.

“We know a lot of folks are excited for two of our state schools playing in big bowl games this weekend so we thought why not add even more excitement to it, and give fans a chance to win football season tickets for next year,” said Wild Rose Jefferson General Manger Travis Dvorak.

Guests do not need to place a wager in the sportsbook to be eligible for the prize; just simply sign up for a wagering account during the game at one of the player kiosks.

It’s easy to enter the season-ticket contest.

“The contest is open to every player with a Club Wild card. If they don’t have one, it takes just minutes to sign up. Once they get their card, all they have to do is swipe it at one of our casino floor kiosks to print out the entry slip, then bring that entry slip to our sportsbook and place in the drawing barrel,” Dvorak said.

The registration for each give-a-way opens before the kickoff of each game and concludes at the end of the game itself. Winners will be randomly drawn at the end of each bowl game. Winners will have their choice of 2020 football season tickets at each respective school or the estimated cash prize equivalent.

In addition to the grand prizes during each bowl game, there will be random drawings for DraftKings and Wild Rose merchandise.

Iowa (9-3) plays the Trojans of USC (8-4) on Friday night, Dec. 27, in the Holiday Bowl with kickoff around 7 p.m. The last time Iowa and USC met was in the 2003 Orange Bowl, which saw USC lead a second-half surge behind Heisman winner Carson Palmer, besting the Hawkeyes 38-17.

Iowa State (7-5) has one of the marquee bowl opponents in Notre Dame (10-2) in the Camping World Bowl. This is the first matchup between the two schools and is slated for an 11 a.m. kickoff on Saturday.

At the time of publication, the Draft Kings Sportsbook at Wild Rose lists Iowa as a 2-point favorite over USC and Notre Dame as a 3½ point favorite over Iowa State.

Fans who may be new to sports wagering should know that Wild Rose Casino and Resort has enjoyed helping people learn the ins and outs of the various types of wagers.

In addition to the football season ticket give-a-ways, marketing manager Billie Daves added that the DraftKings Sportsbook at Wild Rose will be offering a variety of food and drink specials during the bowl game matchups.

“With their first $50 wager, we are giving away two free drink tickets or a free appetizer,” Daves said.

The DraftKings Sportsbook at Wild Rose is situated inside the Coaches Sports Bar at Wild Rose.

“Response to the look and feel of our sportsbook has been very positive,” Daves said. “We are thrilled to be the sports betting provider with DraftKings to the area. This season ticket promotion and exciting developments in the near future will make us a preferred destination for sports fan all throughout central and north-central Iowa.”

The DraftKings Sportsbook at Wild Rose Casino and Resort is open daily.
