Greene County agrees to share track with P-C, but with a catch
Staff report
Could track be the latest high school sport shared between Paton-Churdan and Greene County?
At Wednesday night’s board meeting, the Greene County Community School board took up a request from Paton-Churdan to share girls track for the 2015 season.
Greene County school board members agreed — to a point.
In order to run track for the Rams, the board determined that Paton-Churdan would have to send both its girls and boys teams, not just the girls team.
After much discussion, the board voted 6-1 to enter into an agreement with Paton-Churdan to share both girls and boys high school track.
Practice for the 2015 season already is underway.
Greene County’s current sports-sharing agreement with P-C states that requests to share additional sports should be made by Feb. 1 for the following school year.
The Paton-Churdan board will now need to take action by March 1 to decide whether to give up both girls and boys track.
Either way, Greene County High School will continue to compete in Class 3A track and field.
