Sarah Gomez

Gomez to lead Midwest Partnership

Staff report
STUART — Greene County native Sarah Gomez has been named executive director of the Midwest Partnership Economic Development Corp.

Gomez has played a role in the organization since 2009, when she joined Midwest Partnership in a support role after serving as Rippey city clerk.

Midwest Partnership promotes economic development in Adair, Audubon, Greene and Guthrie counties.

Gomez previously served as economic development coordinator and, most recently, interim executive director.

“Sarah knows our organization inside and out,” according to Warren Varley, president of the Midwest Partnership board. “She knows the region, its businesses and all of the key players.”

Gomez holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from AIB College of Business.

“This is an incredible opportunity for me to aggressively continue the groundwork of our team over the last several years in the region,” she said.

Midwest Partnership has coordinated and assisted in several successful projects in the region in the last year, including an expansion at Scranton Manufacturing.

The organization also assisted the Greene County Economic Development Corp. in solidifying regional support for the Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson, which will result in 275 new jobs.
