Event on Friday will benefit Ryan Mobley
The friends and family of Ryan Mobley are hosting a fundraiser from 4:30 p.m. to midnight Friday at the Elks Lodge.
The event will kick off with a silent auction preview, and bidding, beginning at 11 a.m. Friday at the Elks. Silent auction winners don’t have to be present.
From 5:30 to 7 p.m., a dinner of roasted pork sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, chips and dessert will be served.
A freewill offering is requested as payment.
The silent auction, a 50/50 raffle and quarter Angus beef raffle will be held between 5 and 10 p.m.
50/50 raffle tickets will be sold at the door and can be purchased for $1. Winners must be present.
Quarter Angus raffle tickets will be sold at Greene Bean Coffee and can also be purchased at the door for $5 each or $20 for five.
A live auction will begin at 9 p.m. and includes a host of items, including an autographed Iowa State Fred Hoiberg basketball, an Iowa Hawkeyes Kirk Ferentz football helmet, NASCAR pit passes, autographed Texas Rangers baseballs, an autographed Green Bay Packers football and more.
The event will feature a DJ from 7 p.m. to midnight and a cash bar.
A Jefferson resident, Mobley was diagnosed with a rare, inoperable tumor in March.
His treatment requires him to travel to Omaha every three weeks — where he must stay for three nights — for chemotherapy. Doctors are hoping that chemo will shrink the tumor.
The Mobley family has three young children.
The fundraiser will help cover travel, medical, household and other expenses.
