County to flaunt progress

Town hall meeting set for April 20

A town hall meeting to discuss a host of local developments and programs will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, April 20, in the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson.

The event — titled “We’ve come this far, what’s next?” — is open to the full county and surrounding region.

“There’s so much going on in our community, and an informed community is more supportive of continued growth,” said Ken Paxton, executive director of the Greene County Development Corporation (GCDC).

The GCDC joins Jefferson Matters: Main Street and Greene County Chamber and Development in sponsoring the town hall.

“Everyone in the county is welcome to attend,” Paxton said. “Bring your questions.”

The topics will be as follows:
• Casino and hotel update - Mike Couch
• Hospital update - Carl Behne
• Update on new housing projects - Council woman Lisa Jaskey
• Welcome Center - Angie Pedersen
• Bell Tower Festival - Chris Henning
• Tour of Empty Buildings results - Jamie Daubendiek
• New business sites in Greene County - Chris Nation

Paxton will provide a summary of current and planned economic development projects.
