ATV crash claims life of local second grader

Staff report
SCRANTON — An ATV crash Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of a local 8-year-old.

Grant Robbins, a second grade student at Greene County Elementary, was pronounced dead at the scene after the Polaris Ranger XP he was driving at home rolled over, trapping him under the roll bar frame.

Three Greene County sheriff’s deputies and Greene County EMS were called to 904 Emerald Ave. about 4:44 p.m. Wednesday for the report of an ATV accident.

According to the sheriff’s office, Grant was driving the ATV — which seats two side by side — and was attempting to turn into the driveway when the ATV rolled onto the driver’s side.

Grant wasn’t wearing a helmet or a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson.
