Adopt-a-Family to make holidays brighter for families in need

Greene County Adopt-a-Family’s Christmas Campaign is underway, and the board is anticipating serving more families this year.

Registration forms are available at Jefferson’s New Opportunities Family Development Center, 1401 N. Elm St.

The deadline for forms is Nov. 24.

Applicants are required to provide the names and ages of all adults and children residing in the household and a working phone number.

Food Baskets will be distributed from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 19 at Clover Hall.

In 2014, food and other household items were provided to 161 Greene County families.

In October, Operation Warm Hearts provided coats, snow pants, boots and other winter outerwear to 172 Greene County children.

Monetary contributions are needed to purchase food and other Christmas basket items. Donations can be mailed to AAF, P.O. Box 364, Jefferson, IA 50129, or deposited directly at any local Peoples Trust and Savings Bank location.
