One of the most consistent shooters in Greene County history recently surpassed a major milestone.

Richard Daugherty notched his 1,000th career point in a game against Nevada Feb. 3 in Jefferson, torching the Cub defense for 33 points thanks to four three-pointers.
Daugherty has drilled 62 three-pointers this season, which places him fourth in Greene County single-season history behind only Trey Tucker (63 three-pointers) and all-time leader Trey Hinote, who holds the top two spots with 86 threes in 2019 and 68 threes in 2018. All four marks have been set in the last six years.

Daugherty has scored 1,029 career points while he has drilled 188 career three-pointers, which is the third-best total in school history. Greene County all-time leading scorer Trey Tucker is second in school history with 196 career three-pointers while 2019 graduate Trey Hinote holds the top mark with 269 career deep balls.

Daugherty has poured in a career-best 342 points this winter to go with a career-high 18 points per game average. The Rams have a minimum of three games left following Monday night’s win over Southeast Valley.

Daugherty’s 62 three-pointers are the sixth-most in Class 2A while he’s second in the Heart of Iowa Conference behind Nevada’s Jacob Khounsourath, who’s made 63 threes.

The sharp-shooter is drilling 3.3 long balls per contest at a clip of 34.4 percent. His 18 points per game scoring average is second in the HOIC, behind Khounsourath as well, who’s contributing 18.9 points per contest.

Daugherty followed last week’s milestone-setting performance with 19 points on 8-of-17 shooting Monday night in a 60-53 win over Southeast Valley. He’s averaging 23 points per game over his last four outings.

The Rams (8-11) open Class 2A postseason play Monday, Feb. 13 as they host Woodward-Granger in the District 2 first round.
